New Delhi: Municipal corporation in the Indian state of Kolkata has started using drones to kill mosquitoes.
According to Indian media reports, a senior official of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation said that drones were being used to protect against dengue, chicken gunia and malaria.
The drone is named ‘Vanish’ which goes up to the 20-storey building and is equipped with a global positioning system.
KMC Deputy Mayor Atheen Ghosh said that the drone would click pictures of buildings and other locations that would be helpful to us.
He said the drone also has a robotic arm capable of collecting samples from water and land.
“We will use the pesticides to spray and kill mosquitoes in any of these accessible areas after we receive samples,” Athin Ghosh said.
According to the report, there is a container with drone for storage of pesticides. When the drone sprays pesticides, it also has a hotter which will be operational.
It should be remembered that many citizens have lost their lives due to the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in India, chicken guinea, malaria and dengue.
